Oil & Gas, Power Generation & Energy Sector Filtration Services

KPL Filtration has extensive technical experience across the energy sector — providing specialist lubrication, filtration and oil analysis services to oil and gas operations, power generation facilities, LNG plants and pipeline operators throughout Queensland and the Asia Pacific region. From turbine oil management and compressor lubrication to diesel generator maintenance and pipeline filtration, KPL delivers the products, expertise and onsite support your operation demands.

In the energy sector, equipment reliability is not just a maintenance objective — it is a safety and production imperative. Turbines, compressors, diesel generators and pipeline systems run under high loads and extreme conditions, and the lubricants and filtration systems protecting them must perform without compromise. Contaminated oil, varnish build-up and moisture ingress are among the most common causes of unplanned downtime in energy facilities — and all are preventable with the right maintenance program.

KPL works with energy sector clients to design and implement proactive lubrication and filtration programs that reduce contamination risk, extend fluid life and protect critical assets. Our team is independent and technically objective — we recommend the products and services that deliver the best outcome for your equipment and your operation, not what suits a brand agenda.

KPL Services for the Energy Sector

Varnish is a common and costly problem in turbine and compressor oil systems. As lubricating oil ages and oxidises, insoluble degradation products form on surfaces — restricting oil flow, causing servo valve sticking and triggering equipment trips. KPL’s ISOPur Balanced Charge Agglomeration technology removes varnish particles as small as 0.01 micron, restoring system cleanliness without a full oil drain.

Regular oil analysis is an essential condition monitoring tool for energy sector equipment. KPL uses independent laboratories to test turbine oils, compressor oils, hydraulic fluids and diesel fuel for contamination, wear metals, viscosity, acid number and moisture — giving you early warning of problems before they become failures. Results are provided with clear, actionable recommendations.

KPL’s mobile filtration units are compact, purpose-built and available in electric and pneumatic configurations — including ATEX and IECEx rated units for use in hazardous areas. Units can be hired or purchased, and can be used on equipment while in operation, minimising downtime. Available for immediate mobilisation across Australia.
KPL’s experienced technical team can mobilise to your site to perform onsite filtration, system flushing, commissioning and decommissioning, internal tank cleaning and filter maintenance. We carry specialist equipment for oil conditioning and decontamination, and can work to your site’s safety management system and environmental requirements.

KPL designs custom preventative maintenance programs for energy sector clients — integrating lubricant analysis, filtration schedules, filter maintenance and fluid condition monitoring into a single proactive support plan. Programs are tailored to your equipment criticality, operating hours and maintenance team capacity.

KPL’s filtration units are available for hire across Australia on both short and long-term arrangements. Hire is an efficient option for outages, shutdowns and commissioning projects where temporary filtration capacity is required. Units are available immediately, with technical setup and training support provided.

FAQ...

Varnish is formed when lubricating oil degrades through oxidation and thermal stress, producing insoluble resinous by-products that deposit on surfaces. These deposits restrict flow in servo valves, block oil passages and cause equipment trips. KPL’s ISOPur varnish removal technology uses Balanced Charge Agglomeration (BCA) to attract and capture varnish particles as small as 0.01 micron — removing them from the oil without requiring a full system flush or oil change. The unit can be connected to operating equipment and left to run continuously until target cleanliness is achieved.

Most OEMs recommend turbine oil analysis at least every six months for critical assets, or every 2,000 operating hours — whichever comes first. For older systems or those with known contamination history, quarterly testing is advisable. KPL uses independent laboratories to test for viscosity, acid number, water content, particle count, wear metals and varnish potential rating (VPR). Results are provided with a clear condition assessment and recommendations.

Yes. KPL supplies electric and pneumatic filtration units with ATEX and IECEx certification suitable for use in classified hazardous areas, including Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments. These are available for hire or purchase. Contact our team with your hazardous area classification and we can confirm the appropriate equipment.

Yes. KPL has experience mobilising to remote sites across Queensland and the Asia Pacific region. Our team works to client site safety management systems and carries the appropriate PPE, equipment and documentation. Contact us to discuss your site requirements and we can provide a scope and quote.

KPL supplies turbine oils, compressor oils and associated lubricants from leading brands including Fuchs, Castrol, Shell, Mobil and Kluber. We can cross-reference OEM specifications to identify the correct product for your equipment, and provide independent advice on whether alternative products offer equivalent or superior performance. Our technical team can also advise on lubricant compatibility when transitioning between products.

Yes. KPL is experienced in commissioning and decommissioning of lubricant and fuel systems, including pre-commission flushing of pipework to achieve target cleanliness levels, internal tank cleaning and initial fill filtration. We can provide the filtration equipment, technical supervision and oil analysis required to commission new systems to OEM specifications.
