Industrial Filters & Breathers — Brisbane & Queensland

Clean fluid is the foundation of reliable equipment. KPL Filtration supplies a comprehensive range of hydraulic filters, oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, desiccant breathers and replacement filter elements to industrial and mining businesses across Brisbane and Queensland. From leading brands including Parker, Pall, Baldwin, Hydac, Filtrec, Stauff and Donaldson — matched to your equipment specifications.

Why Filtration Matters

In today’s industrial environment, fine micron filtration is vital. The majority of hydraulic and lubrication system failures are caused by fluid contamination — particles, water and varnish that degrade seals, score surfaces and accelerate wear. A high-quality filter element removes these contaminants before they cause damage, maintaining the cleanliness levels your equipment needs to perform reliably.

Breathers are equally important and often overlooked. Every time a reservoir breathes — as oil is pumped out and drawn back in — it draws in ambient air. Without a quality desiccant breather, that air carries moisture and particulate directly into your fluid system. Fitting a good breather is one of the simplest and most cost-effective steps you can take to extend fluid life and protect your equipment.

KPL supplies filter elements and breathers from the world’s leading manufacturers, and our technical team can identify the correct element for your specific housing and application — whether you’re replacing a worn element or upgrading to a higher-efficiency grade.

FAQ...

The easiest way is to have the part number from your existing filter element — KPL can cross-reference this to identify a direct replacement or equivalent from our stock. If you don’t have a part number, we can work from the housing model, the equipment make and model, or the micron rating and flow requirements of your system. Call us on 1300 30 88 66 or send an enquiry with your details.

Replacement intervals depend on the system, the fluid condition, the operating environment and the filter’s differential pressure indicator (if fitted). As a general guide, filter elements in hydraulic systems should be changed at least annually or every 2,000 operating hours — whichever comes first. In harsh or dusty environments, more frequent changes are recommended. KPL’s technical team can advise on the right interval for your application.

Micron rating determines the size of particles a filter will remove from the fluid. Lower micron ratings mean finer filtration. The right rating depends on the components in your system — modern servo valves and high-pressure pumps typically require very fine filtration (3–6 micron absolute), while less sensitive systems may be adequately protected with 10–25 micron elements. KPL can advise on the correct rating to achieve the ISO cleanliness level your equipment requires.

A desiccant breather fits to the breather port of a reservoir or gearbox and uses a desiccant material (typically silica gel) to remove moisture from incoming air as the system breathes. If your equipment operates in a humid environment, near water, or if you’ve experienced water contamination in your lubricant system, a desiccant breather is an inexpensive and highly effective solution. KPL stocks desiccant breathers in a range of sizes.

In most cases, yes. KPL can cross-reference elements across brands and supply equivalent filter elements from our stocked brands (Parker, Pall, Baldwin, Hydac, Filtrec, Stauff, Donaldson) that match the specifications of elements from other manufacturers. Contact us with the part number and we’ll confirm availability.
